Abstract

In order to develop a new dentifrice, the authors had evaluated BSF dentifrice containing 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate and 40% sodium bicarbonate.
The fluoride ion concentration was checked by Orion special fluoride ion meter (Orion 701 A). The abrasiveness was measured by weight loss method. The plaque removal efficacy was examined in accordance with simplified oral Hygiene lndex.
@ES The following conclusion was obtained:
@EN 1. The concentration of fluoride ion was 968ppm in just manufactured and was maintained 965ppm after 6 months accelerated condition in 40¡É, The concentration of sodium bicarbonate was unchanged during 6 months accelerated condition.
2. The relative abrasiveness was 55.6 in BSF dentifrice compared with British standard toothpaste(UKBS) of which was 100.0.
3. the efficacy lndex of removal of plaque was -11.568¡¾3.254 in BSF Dentifrice and -7.818¡¾3.126 in UKBS standard dentifrice. The t-value of statistic analysis was 4.870.(P<0.001) the differences in the value of plaque lndex between BSF and
UKBS
were
significant statistically.
